Speak your plans in your own language
Most of us do not think in perfect, formal English, so why type reminders that way? How doMahan reads days, times and amounts in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German and Hinglish.
Speaking a reminder takes three seconds; typing it on a phone keyboard takes thirty. doMahan understands days, times and amounts in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German and Hinglish. Say the task and the time in one sentence, check the card, tap Save. In any other language your words still become the card.
Try typing this on your phone while walking to the bus: "Remind me tomorrow evening at 6 to call the doctor." Autocorrect changes "doctor" to "doctrine", you miss a letter in "tomorrow", and the bus leaves without you.
Now try saying it: "Call the doctor tomorrow at 6 pm." Two seconds. Done.
That is the idea behind voice in doMahan. And because people around the world plan their day in their own language (and often mix two of them), it is built to understand more than one.
Which languages does doMahan understand?
doMahan reads days, times and amounts in six ways of speaking:
| Language | Say something like | You get |
|---|---|---|
| English | call mom tomorrow at 6 pm | "Call mom", tomorrow, 6:00 PM |
| French | appeler le dentiste demain à 14h30 | "Appeler le dentiste", tomorrow, 2:30 PM |
| German | Mama anrufen morgen um 18 Uhr | "Mama anrufen", tomorrow, 6:00 PM |
| Hinglish | kal shaam 6 baje doctor ke paas jaana hai | "Doctor ke paas jaana hai", tomorrow, 6:00 PM |
Speak another language? The phone still turns your words into text, and that text becomes the card title. You set the time with a tap. Nothing is lost.
What kinds of times work?
You do not need to speak like a robot. These all work:
- Clock times: "at 6 pm", "6:30", "a las 7 y media", "à 18h", "um 7 Uhr", "às 9"
- Parts of the day: "tomorrow morning at 8", "de la tarde", "da noite", "du soir", "abends", "shaam"
- From now: "in 10 minutes", "en 20 minutos", "dans une heure", "in einer Stunde", "2 ghante baad"
- Days: today and tomorrow in every language above (hoy, mañana, hoje, amanhã, aujourd'hui, demain, heute, morgen, aaj, kal)
A few small smart bits make it feel natural. "Wake up at 5" means 5 am, not 5 pm. "Call at 9" said at 10 in the morning means 9 tonight, because 9 am has already gone. And a time that has already passed today moves the card to tomorrow.
Does it work for money too?
Yes. On the Expenses screen, the mic listens for amounts and picks a category:
- "spent $12.50 on lunch" becomes 12.50 under Food
- "gasté 30 euros en gasolina" becomes 30 under Travel
- "12,50 € déjeuner hier" becomes 12.50 under Food, dated yesterday
- "paguei 45 reais no almoço" becomes 45 under Food
- "20 Euro für Kleidung gestern" becomes 20 under Shopping, dated yesterday
Amounts show in your own currency. doMahan starts with your phone's local currency, and you can switch to any of more than 25 others in Profile.
How do I get it right the first time?
- Say the task and the time in one breath. "Pay rent tomorrow at 9 am" works better than pausing in the middle.
- Add am, pm or a part of the day when the hour could mean either: "at 7 in the evening", "a las 7 de la tarde".
- Skip the polite extras. You do not need "please" or "could you"; doMahan ignores them, but shorter is cleaner.
- Shopping lists can take several items at once: "milk, bread and eggs" becomes three cards.
- Glance at the card before saving. doMahan shows exactly what it understood ("You said: …"). If something is off, fix it with a tap. Nothing is saved by surprise.
Is my voice recorded?
No. When you tap the mic, Android's own speech screen listens in your phone's language and hands doMahan only the text. doMahan does not record, keep or upload audio, and it does not even ask for the microphone permission. The details are in our privacy policy.
Try it right now
You do not need the app to try this. The demo on our home page uses the same reading logic as the app. Type a sentence in any of the six languages and watch it turn into a card.
Then think about how many small things you forget each week simply because writing them down felt like too much effort. Say it once, and let the app remember.
Quick answers
Is there a reminder app that understands Spanish, French or German?
Yes. doMahan, a free Android planner, reads sentences like "llamar a mamá mañana a las 6 de la tarde", "appeler le dentiste demain à 14h30" or "Mama anrufen morgen um 18 Uhr" and turns each one into a card with the right day and time. You always see the card before it is saved.
Does doMahan record my voice?
No. When you tap the mic, Android's own speech service turns your words into text in your phone's language, and doMahan only receives that text. The app does not record, store or upload any audio, and it does not ask for the microphone permission itself.
